Authorised deposit-taking institutions' points of presence statistics
APRA publishes on an annual basis, a detailed listing of the physical banking service channels provided to Australians by authorised deposit-taking institutions (ADIs).
The points of presence statistics provide a summary of the banking services provided to Australians by ADIs and detailed information at a sector, institution service channel type level, by various geographic classifications. The statistics covers five types of service channels: face-to-face points of presence offering a branch level of service, other face-to-face points of presence, Bank@Post, automatic teller machines (ATMs), and electronic funds transfer at point of sale (EFTPOS) machines.
The individual points of banking presence are categorised using the Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS), which classifies the locations according to remoteness.
This data does not include banking services provided online or via mobile banking applications, or non-ADI services such as non-ADI operated ATMs.
