Australian Government deposit guarantee scheme seal
The Australian Government has an easy to recognise seal that banks, building societies and credit unions (otherwise known as authorised deposit-taking institutions or ADIs) may use to help depositors know that their deposits are protected under the Financial Claims Scheme (FCS).
If you see this seal associated with your deposit account, it should be protected under the FCS because the seal can only be used in relation to products that are covered under the FCS.
Since some types of accounts are not covered under the FCS, account holders should check with their bank, building society or credit union to find out whether their particular accounts are protected under the FCS.
ADIs are not required to display this seal, therefore the absence of the seal doesn’t mean that the accounts are not protected by the FCS.
For more information on how the seal can be used by ADIs go to the Australian Securities and Investments Commission's website.
