Revisions to the buffer and floor rates in APG 223 - Closed

Final Round - July 2019

On 5 July 2019, APRA published its response to submissions on proposed revisions to its guidance on the buffer and floor rates used in borrower serviceability assessments set out in Prudential Practice Guide APG 223 Residential Mortgage Lending. APRA also released the final revised version of APG 223.

Round 1 - May 2019

On 21 May 2019, APRA issued a consultation letter inviting submissions on proposed revisions to its guidance on the buffer and floor rates set out in Prudential Practice Guide APG 223 Residential Mortgage Lending. Information on how to respond is contained in the letter. 

Submissions closed on 18 June 2019.

Final Round - February 2017

In February 2017, APRA released a response to submissions on proposed revisions to draft APG 223 on reinforcing sound residential mortgage lending practices. APRA also released the final revised APG 223.

Round 1 - October 2016

In October 2016, APRA released a consultation letter inviting submissions on its proposed revisions to the Prudential Practice Guide APG 223 to reinforce sound residential mortgage lending practices.

Submissions closed on 19 December 2016.

Final Round - November 2014 

In November 2014 APRA released a response to submissions on draft APG 223. This response paper sets out key issues raised in the submissions. 

Round 1 - May 2014

On 26 May 2014, APRA released for consultation a draft prudential practice guide that provides ADIs with guidance on sound risk management practices for residential mortgage lending. The draft Prudential Practice Guide 223 Residential Mortgage Lending outlines prudent practice in addressing housing credit risk within an ADI’s risk management framework, in applying sound loan origination criteria and appropriate security valuation methods, in the management of hardship loans and in establishing a robust stress-testing framework.

The consultation closed on 21 July 2014.
