On 10 May 2017, APRA released the first edition of the expanded General Insurance Institution-level Statistics. The statistics were expanded to include additional statistics in an improved format, as well as to include half-yearly data on level 2 insurance groups for the first time.
On 16 February 2017, APRA released the first edition of the expanded Quarterly General Insurance Performance Statistics. The statistics were expanded to include additional statistics and statistics split by industry segment.
On 16 February 2017, APRA finalised the segmentation of general insurance statistics to be publicly released by APRA. Details are available in the paper Segmentation of general insurance entities
. APRA also released a paper Investments and the Asset Risk Charge
, which describes emerging trends in general insurers' investments and their impact on capital adequacy, as well as highlighting how new asset risk charge statistics can be interpreted and used for analysis.

This annual publication contains industry-level claims development statistics by class of business. The publication also includes summaries of movements in the ultimate cost of claims for selected major classes of business.
This semi-annual publication contains individual insurance group information about financial performance, financial position, capital adequacy and key ratios. The publication also includes financial year-end results for consolidated institutions and Lloyds Australia.
Quarterly General Insurance Institution-level Statistics - new release date
This quarterly publication will include individual insurer information about financial performance, financial position, capital adequacy and key ratios. APRA originally proposed to release the publication on 25 May 2017. After considering feedback from general insurers, APRA will release the publication on 23 November 2017. The six months’ postponement will help general insurers prepare for the expected increase in enquiries about the statistics.
This publication, released twice per year, provides an overview of intermediated insurance placed with APRA-authorised general insurers, Lloyd’s underwriters and unauthorised foreign insurers (UFIs). The statistical tables include detailed information about risks placed with UFIs.
This is a comprehensive database of policy and claim information on professional indemnity (PI) and public and product liability (PL) insurance. It contains data on every open, reopened or finalised claim and policy underwritten since 2003 by Australian APRA-regulated general insurers.
This publication contained State level premium and claims expenses for direct insurers, and information about public insurers' financial performance, position, and premium and claims by class of business.
The bulletin included detailed information at both an individual insurer and aggregate industry level, including: aggregated industry tables, key entity specific information, public insurer data, and Lloyd's Australia data. The bulletin used full year data from each entity.
General Insurance Trends (September 2002)
This was an interim industry aggregate publication published for the September 2002 quarter.
This publication was a detailed statistical synopsis of Australia's general insurance companies and overall industry. Selected Statistics included leading indicators for assets under management, premium revenues, number of policies, class of business, State distributions and industry performance ratios.
